🥰 Come, I will show you the Bride!

Come, I will show you the Bride!

“Come, I will show you the bride, the wife of the Lamb.”
(Rev. 21:9 NIV)

Over the next few weeks, I thought I’d share some posts with you that evolved from my book.

That book has been sitting on the shelf for years. Why? I don’t know. I just felt like the Lord held it back for some reason.

Many years ago, the Lord led me to research and write on the ancient Hebrew betrothal custom. If you will allow me, I will take you on a journey of discovery to experience the remarkable parallel of how the twelve steps of betrothal correlate to the life of a Christian.

Each step in the process provides insight and inspiration for the pilgrimage to completeness in Christ, revealing how to live the Bride-kind of life.

We’ll journey down the bridal path of the twelve steps and discover a sacred custom that holds profound, spiritual significance for those believing in the coming Messiah.

I pray you will be encouraged, nourished, and blessed. And not miss any, as they are so important to our understanding of our relationship with the Lord.

So, strap yourself in and let’s go...

Thousands of years ago, the ancient Hebrews originated a betrothal custom consisting of twelve basic steps. Little did they know each step of the process would hold a spiritual application.

(Some sources list the 12 steps in a little different order, but what I will share is the general consensus.)

First, we must know God chose us.

From the opening pages of the Bible, God relates to His people in a closeness of companionship so intimate that He compares it to a marriage relationship, for He said to the Jewish/Hebrew exiles, “For your Maker is your Husband.” (Is. 54:5a Ampc)

And in the intervening pages, this thought grew, for the Father sent His Son as the heavenly Bridegroom to woo the heart of the perfect Bride into holy oneness with Himself.

God said, through his servants, that He has chosen us...you and me...to be His Bride, when we believe in Him. Peter wrote and said, “But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.” (1 Peter 2:9 ESV)

Paul wrote it to the Ephesian church, “For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight.” (Ephesians 1:4 ESV) And to the Colossian church, he wrote, “Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.” (Col. 3:12 ESV)

In the closing pages of the Bible, the relationship has remained paramount. During his latter days, while on the isle of Patmos, the disciple John received a vision from God, which he recorded and, at one point, exclaimed, “Let us be glad and rejoice and give Him glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His wife has made herself ready.” (Rev. 19:7 NKJV)

**********

But are we making ourselves ready?

What are we doing to keep ourselves pure and holy, ready for our Bridegroom to carry us across that heavenly threshold? Will He radiate with delight in us, His Bride?

If Jesus died to present the Church-bride to Himself as “a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish” (Eph. 5:27 NKJV), then is she wrinkled and blemished?

When the heavenly Bridegroom comes for His Bride, will she be dressed in an old rag, spotted with worldly residue? Or will she be a Bride beautifully dressed for her Husband in a spotless gown of holiness?

What do we need to do to ensure we live as the holy Bride?

As we travel along this bridal path, we will discover what God desires of us to be that holy Bride before Him.

May you be blessed in the discovery of these spiritual insights...Lynn

View this email in your browser The Bride of Choice The bride of choice. Called shiddukhin, or the match, a pre-arranged agreement, it is the first step of the Jewish/Hebrew betrothal custom. According to this tradition, when a son came of age to marry, the father, or sometimes the father and mother, chose a bride for their son from their own clan. Now and again, the father would send a trusted servant, known as the agent of the father, as a type of best man, to search for the prospective...
